K. Quist (Australia). C. G. Mako (U.S.A.), S. B. Wood (U.S.A.), J. Hunt (U.S.A.), R. Menzel (Czechoslovakia), F. Puncec (Yugoslavia). Women Mrs H. Wills-Moody (U.S.A.), Frau H. Sperling (Germany), Miss A. Marble (U.S.A.), Miss H. Jacobs (U.S.A.), Mrs S. Fabyan (U.S.A.). Panna J. Jedrzejowska (Poland). Miss D. Bundy (U.S.A.L Mme. R. Mathieu (France). Miss N. Wynne (Australia), Miss M. Lumb (England). . ... This is the first occasion on which Bromwich has been included among the best 10 players of the world. CASHMERE HILLS CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Cashmeie Hills Tennis Club was held in the pavilion recently. The president (Mr F. C. Wade) presided over an attendance of about 40 members. . The annual report made appreciative reference to the club’s picnic, dances, and other social activities, and offered congratulations to the women’s mid-week team which had won the competition, and to other players who were successful in various tournaments. The balance-sheet showed the club s finances to he in a satisfactory state, several functions having added considerably to the funds. , . . The following officers were elected:— President, Mr F. C. Wade: secretary and treasurer, Mr J. S. Inwood; committee. Messrs R. A. Young, W. J. Deans. T, N. Young, W. S. Angas, H. E. Marsh. Mesdames Williams, Smart, and Watkins, Misses W. Watson, M, Spence, and U. Skelton: ground superintendent. Mr A. B. Fraser; delegates to Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs R. A, Young, W. J. Deans, and W. S. Angas: auditor, Mr R. Browning. It was left to the newly-appointed committee to consider the use of the point system instead of sets for the club s handicap matches this year. The opinion was expressed that as the club’s playing facilities were so good, an increased membership was hoped for. After a long discussion on the disc system for Saturday play, it was left to the committee to investigate the question. It was decided to confer with the bowling and croquet sections about opening day. ST. ANDREW’S TENNIS CLUB The annual meeting of the St. Andrew’s Tennis Club was held last week, with a fair attendance of members. The annual report showed a successful season, with one of the largest active memberships for some years and a satisfactory cash surplus. - .... During the year the usual competition games were held, the winners being:— Men’s championship. G. Taylor: women’s championship, Miss J. Evans: men’s handicap singles, F. Levenbach; women’s handicap singles. Miss J. Evans: mixed doubles handicap. Miss J. Evans and A. Anderson. It was announced that the three courts would again be available for play during the coming season, and that a number of new members were expected. Opening day was fixed for Saturday. October X, when the trophies will be presented and a Yankee tournament will be held.
