POSTAL BALLOT TO BE TAKEN DISAFFILIATION FROM NEW ZEALAND BODY

The Canterbury Clerks’, Cashiers’, and Office Employees’ Union will take a postal ballot on the motion to disaffiliate from the New Zealand Clerical Employees’ Association. This was decided at a special meeting held last evening to consider the motion for disaffiliation. The president, Mr G. Gillespie, was in the chair, and there was an attendance of about 250. Mr W. N, Pharazyn, secretary of the New Zealand Association, who had arrived from Wellington, was present, and addressed the meeting. After discussion of the motion 10 members rose and asked .for a postal ballot. The chairman said that in terms of the union’s rules this would be taken, and the meeting was then adjourned.
