The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) arrived in Christchurch from -Wellington yesterday morning and gave an address in the city last night. He will leave for Dunedin by train this morning, and will later go to Invercargill. Mr Savage will pass through Christchurch again next Wednesday on his return to Wellington, The Minister for Mines (the Hon. P.C. Webb), who returned from a tour-of the West Coast and Marlborough yesterday, will leave Christchurch for the south to-day with the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage). The Minister for Public Works (the Hon R. Semple) will leave Christchurch for Dunedin by air to-day. He will then go to Invercargill to begin a tour of southern electorates. The Hon. F. Waite, M.L.C.. left for Wellington by the steamer express last evening. Professor James Shelley. Director of Broadcasting, arrived in Christchurch yesterday morning by the steamer express. He unveiled the war memorial window in the Canterbury University College Hall during the morning and returned to Wellington by the steamer express last night. , Mr M. J. Gfesson returned to Christchurch by the steamer Express yesterday morning. A passenger for the north by the steamer express last evening was the Rev. Brother M. A. Grean, of England, who recently met his two brothers. Messrs William Crean and Thomas Crean, of Hawarderi, for the first time in 50 years. Brother Crean has been travelling in Australia and New Zealand after bringing out a party of 31 boys for the Agricultural College of the Christian Brothers at Tardun, Western Australia, and he had not seen his two brothers since they left home for New Zealand 50 years ago. He has been staying with his sister, Mrs L. Mahan, and niece, Mrs C. Condon, in Preston’s road, Styx, and now returns to St. Joseph s College, Ledsham, England, whence he came.
