FAREWELL SOCIAL AT STAVELEY

There was a large attendance in the Staveley Hall at a farewell function to Mr and Mrs A. R. Andrews* who are leaving the district. The chairman (Mr S. Goldsmith) expressed regret at the departure of Mr and Mrs Andrews, who had Interested themselves in the activities of the district. He presented them with a substantial cheque from neighbours. Mrs W. Norman spoke for the Women’s Institute and presented a bouquet. Mr 3. Shimmins, for the Staveley Defence Defence Rifle Club, presented Mr Andrews with a silver mounted walking stick, and Mrs Andrews with a crystal vase. Mr Gadd spoke for the returned soldiers. Items were given by Miss Alma Smith, Miss K. Hannan, Messrs A. W. Russell and K. Walker. Music for a dance was played by Mrs Shimmlns, Mrs McLean, Mrs Goodrich, and Miss Wilson, Mr R. Nell was master of ceremonies
