DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB
FORMATION AT GERALDINE
A defence rifle club was formed at Geraldine on Monday evening. The Mayor (Mr J. R. Lack) presided at the meeting, which -was convened by Mr S. G. Sharman.
It was decided that, subject to the consent of the Defence Department, the range on the property of Mr A. G. Macdonald, “Waitui,” be used, and a vote of thanks was passed to Mr Macdonald for his assistance in the matter. It was agreed to adopt the rules of the Timaru Defence Club.
Officers were elected as follows: President, Mr J. Gresham; vice-presi-dents, Messrs C. W. Lynn and L. Beattie; honorary secretary, Mr J. Scott; honorary treasurer. Mi* R. Helena; club captain. Mr S. C. Sharman: committee, Messrs G, Chapman, C. Burrows, H. Scott, J. Wooding, J. Gregan, and C. Burrows; auditor, Mr W. McClure. The election of patrons and honorary members of the club was held over until a further meeting.
