On the first stage of his election tour of the Dominion, the Prime Min'ister (the Fit. Hon. M. J. Savage) left 'JlVellington this evening by the steamer express for Lyttelton. His chief speaking fixtures are:—To-morrow night, King Edward Barracks, Christchurch; iSeptcmber 29. Town Hall. Dunedin; October 4. Invercargill; October 6, i.rrive back in Wellington; October 7, Kcw Plvmouth; October 11, Town H:M. Auckland: October 13. Hamilton; October 14, arrive back in Wellington. While in Auckland Mr Savage will address a meeting in his own electorate. Auckland West. In an interview this evening Mr ■Sivage said he was feeling fit for the .campaign. The itinerary which had Ibeen arranged was subject, of course, to the developments in the international situation. He might not be able to get through with all his fixtures on that account; but he would get as far ies he could. "Reports are good from everywhere," Mr Savage said, commenting on the progress of the Labour Party's campaign. The Prime Minister will be accompanied on his tour by his chief private secretary, Mr C. A. Jeffery, and Mr K. Riley, of the Prime Minister's Department. Warren, National candidate £jor Ka.iapoi, received an attentive '•hearing' when he addressed a meeting of about 300 electors at the Grand Theatre, Kaiapoi, last evening. After i questions had been answered he was 'tgiven a vote of thanks on the motion of Messrs L.. B. Evans and E. J. Cor-, coran. The Mayor (the Rev. W. H. A. Vick*ry) presided. MR T. H. M'COMBS AT WOOLSTON Mr T. H. McCombs, M.P., Labour candidate for Lyttelton, was given an enthusiastic reception when he gave an address to a crowded meeting at the Woolston School last evening. AH the audience could not be accommodated in the room, and those in an adjoining room were able to hear the address through a loud-speaker. After the address a motion of thanks and confidence in the candidate and the Government was carried unanimously. The meeting concluded with cheers for the Labour Party. Mr G. W. Samms presided. MR J. A. LEE AT TINWALD Mr J- A. Lee. Parliamentary UnderSecretary in Charge of Housing, addressed 300 electors at Tinwald last evening, and left later for Timaru. During the afternoon he inspected State houses at Ashburton. MR A. S. LYONS'S MEETINGS Mr A. S. Lyons, Independent candidate for Mid-Canterbury, addressed ■well-attended meetings at Lauriston end Lyndhurst last evening. He was given an attentive hearing and was accorded a vote of thanks after each meeting.
