GUESTS ON WARSHIP A PLEASANT GATHERING A long line of motor-cars travelling over Evans Pass road and a very well patronised train leaving the Christchurch railway station for the port yesterday alternoon betokened some unusual happenings in Lyttelton. The big influx of visitors was due to the fact that the Commodore Commanding the New Zealand Sauadron. and the officers of H.M.S. Achilles, which has been at Lyttelton for some days were "At Home" on the ship, and extended kindly hospitality to a large number of guests. Visits of warships to Lyttelton are comparatively rare events and a party on board ship .has. for Canterbury residents, the charm of The visitors yesterday were welcomed at the gangway by Commodore I. Glennie. and he and the officers of the shiD saw to it that all their guests enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
