(Received September 26, 740 pjxu> GENEVA, September 24. : Representatives of South Africa, India, Sweden, Albania, Lithuania, Poland and Norway agreed with Earl De la Warr when the political committee held a debate oa sane-, tions. Sir Nripendra Sircar (India) said' that a section in India was increasingly dissatisfied with the League because of loss of prestige, its help-; lessness regarding Abyssinia andChina, and because of India's inadequate representation on the secretariat in view of its contribution.
He said that if the grievances increased there was a probability ot India's withdrawal. Mr R. A. Butler (Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs) closing the debate emphasised that Britain was maintaining the essential character of the League Covenant while bow-; ing to practical realities and recognising that the unconditional apph? cation of sanctions could not at present be expected from all members of the League. ;.,
