ADDRESS BY DR. A. L. HASLAM

"The Lawyer and the Community" was the subject of an address by Dr. A. L. Hasiam to the Society for Imperial Culture on Saturday night. Dr. J. Hight presided. Dr. Hasiam reviewed -the structure of the British and colonial judicial system and made some comparisons with these of other countries. He also ■ : dealt with the functions of barristers, solicitors, and advocates at law, explaining the scope and limitations of thpirjictivities. During the evening Miss Alice Vin*s» sang "The Slumber Song of the Madonna" and "Beloved." by Michael ?**«• Mr Fred Page gave a pianoforte recital, including several compositions by Schubert.
