REPORT OF STREET APPEAL Ttie monthly meeting o£ the Christchurch branch o£ the Plunket Society was held in the Plunket rooms, Mrs J. Cracroft Wilson presiding over a good attendance. Miss SatchelTs resignation of the Lady King Karitane Hospital from Novembeb.3o was accepted with great regret. 'litters were l received from the Ashburton. Lyttelton, Temuka, and Tiroaru branches- agreeing to the proposal that a committee, comprising a member from each country branch, should be formed to meet once or twice a year to go into matters affecting the Karitane Hospital. Mis H Wyatt reported that the gross proceeds of Plunket Day amoimted to £483. A very hearty vote of thanks was .passed to Mrs Wyatt for her untiring work for the appeal. A donation of £2O towards the funds of the society was received, from Miss Ruth Draper* For the Plunket rooms. Nurse Allan reported as follows:—Pre-natal section: New cases 28, return visits J. 09, casual visits 26, cases under observation ,140< Post-natal section: New baby cases, city and suburbs 121, outstatlons 16. _ . , ...... Visits to rooms—Central: Adults 1209, babies 771; suburban, adults 1471, babies 1458; out-stations, adults 174, babies 167, and 27 older children. Tptai number of babies under observation, 2539, Pre-school children—New cases 28, visits to rooms 192, pre-school children under supervision 1204. For the Lady King Karitane Hospital, the matron reported that 22 babies had been admitted, 20 had been discharged, and 16 were in hospital. Thirteen ‘bad been admitted to the mother*’, cottage, 13 had been discharged, and five were in residence. Gifts had l been gratefully received at the Plunket rooms from Miss Carpenter. Mrs C. Holland, Mrs Horwood, Mrs Noble, the Catholic Women’s League, and the Avonside Girls’ High School.
