FARM WORKERS’ WAGES

♦ INCREASE EXPECTED RATES TO BE FIXED BY MINISTER (PKEB9 ASSOCIATION TELZOBAU.) NEW PLYMOUTH, September 23. Farm labourers’ wages for the present dairying season will be fixed by the Minister for Labour (the Hon. H, T. Armstrong), at Stratford tomorrow, in consultation with Mr W. J. Poison, M.P., Mr H. E. Blyde, vicepresident of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, and Mr J.v Furniss, of Ruawaro. A more substantial increase in the rate than that made last year is expected. It is understood that the new rate for an adult farm hand will be about 50s a week.
