The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by : the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: North-easterlies along the coast, otherwise winds light and variable. Weather fair to line with -wild day and cool night temperatures. Slight seas. WEST COAST The forecast lor the West Coast of the South Island is— Light to moderate northerly to north-westerly winds. Weather mainly fair to cloudy hut some scattered rain developing in southern parts. Mild temperatures. Seas slight to moderate. DOMINION The forecast for the Dominion is;— Fair to fine generally but 1 cloud increasing to-morrow in northern snd western districts and some scattered light rains developing in the far south. Temperatures generally mild but some ground frosts and morning fogs probable. Pressure is still uniform and relatively high over New Zealand, while a shallow depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea. An anti-cyclone again covers south-eastern Australia. Winds —Light to moderate and variable with north-easterlies to northerlies predominating and later freshening somewhat. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Moderate north of East Cape and about Foveaux strait. Elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Light to moderate northerly winds and slight to moderate seas. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER Yesterday was brilliantly fine; in Christchurch. The sun shone all day. but there were light passing clouds in the morning. A very light easterly breeze blew in the afternoon. At 1 o’clock this morning there wu no wind and a clear sky. The temperature was 48 degrees, and the barometer was steady at 30.15 laches. Dunedin—The sun shone brightly yesterday, and the weather was mild, the temperature reaching a maximum of 58 degrees.
