Joan Blondell, the film star, visited Christchurch some years ago with her parents, who toured New Zealand with Fuller’s vaudeville, appearing in a comedy sketch, “The Big Boy.” Mr Albert Bidgood, now of Dunedin, was at that time conductor of the orchestra for Fuller’s in Christchurch, and he recalls that little Joan, a tiny tot who travelled as excess baggage, used to make herself a nuisance by hiding stage properties, mixing face powders in the artists’ dressing rooms, and similar pranks.
