It was pointed out that this scheme was already in use in England and Scotland, and might profitably be emulated in this country. A recommendation was made to the incomirfg committee to go into the question of the erection of a hut at Arthur’s Pass as a memorial to the late Sir Arthur Dudley Dobson. INTEREST IN MAIN TRUNK RAILWAY
Keen interest in the work of the Railway Department in opening up the east coast of the South Island was expressed last evening at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Youth Hostels’ Association, and it was decided to write to this effect to the Minister for Railways (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan), suggesting that the railway huts vacated by the employees be made available for the use of the association’s members; and asking whether it would be possible to provide railway carriages for .week-end
