FRIENDLY BOUTS HELD There was a large attendance or members and visitors at the Christchurch Swords Club last night, when friendly bouts were held with a team of three from H.M.S. Achilles and members of the Canterbury University College Fencing Club and Wigram Air Force Club. Exhibitions of sabre and epee fighting were given by the visitors and members of the clubs. , . The foil bouts were of great value to the Canterbury clubs, members of which are in training for the coming New Zealand championships which will be held In Christchurch during Labour week-end. Individual results were:—Navy: Heath, 4 wins, 1 loss; Tompkin, 2 wins, X loss: Page, 3.losses. Christchurch Swords Club: Purchase, 2 wins, 1 loss; Cato, 2 wins, 1 loss: Farley, 1 win, 2 losses; Elsom, 1 win, 1 loss; Walker, 1 win, 1 loss. Canterbury College Fencing Club: Donovan, 2 wins, 1 loss: Muir, 2 losses.
