REVENUE SHOWS INCREASE
RAILWAY DISTRICT RETURNS HEAVY GOODS TRAFFIC Extra trains, are being run on, the Lyttelton and West Coast lines to pope with the heavy goods traffic. Inward cargo landed at Lyttelton has made big demands on the rolling stock and the shed capacity at Christchurch.The returns the Canterbury railway district for the tour-weekly period ended on Saturday last are indicative of the busy time the goods department is experiencing; The figures, with those lor the corresponding period last year, are:—
