NATIONAL PARTY’S HOUSE PROPOSALS
TO THE EDITOR OT THE PRESS. Sir, —In the National Party’s election policy published in “The Press” of Tuesday, relating to tenancies 'of bouses, it is stated that: “We will restore to owners the right of access to their own properties, at the same time providing adequate safeguards for tenants.” I, and no doubt other land agents, would like to know what Mr Hamilton means by “providing adequate safeguards” for tenants on ’possession being taken by owners. As one who has for the last six weeks tried unsuccessfully to obtain a rental house at about 22s 6d for a client who offers a bonus of £lO for it, I fail to see how adequate safeguards for tenants can be provided without additional bouses. If private enterprise fails to meet the present urgent demand for houses, what is the alternative?— Yours, etc., S. MOORE. j; September 21, 1938.
