After many years the Salvation Army resumed activities at Rakaia recently. The new Salvation Army Palmer Memorial Hall, given by Mrs Jane Palmer in memory of her husband and children, was declared open by the field secretary (LieutenantColonel F. Burton), who handed Mrs J. Palmer the key to unlock the door. After a stormy week-end and a further fall of snow on the hills, 16 degrees of frost were recorded in Fairlie on Mojaday morning.
