«> AVON CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING SUCCESSFUL SEASON REPORTED The fifty-seventh annual report of the Avon Rowing Club, presented at the annual meeting on Monday night, reviews a year successful in every way. The report states that membership for the season showed an increase—ll7 compared with 105 the previous year. Financially the club is in a sound position, a t credit of £9O 19s 6d being registered. As- r sets exceed liabilities by £1873 18s lOd. *" At regattas club crews started 41 times for 12 first places, 20 second places, and three ■ third places. In the inter-club £ eight-oar championship the club's crew won for the fifth year in succession. ■ The opening day of the club was fixed for October 8, and it was decided to recommei.d to the Canterbury Rowing As- , sociation that October 29 be fixed as the r date for the opening of the boating, as r the date chosen, October 15, clashed with l the date of the General Election. t The meeting decided to buy a new racing clinker double-sculler from a Wanganui firm.
