PRIMARY SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT
SIXTEEN SCHOOLS COMPETE AT RANGIORA
About 400 children took part in the North Canterbury primary schools* Rugby football and basketball tournament at Dudley Park, Rangiora,'yes- , terday.. Sixteen schools werei repre--sented. The day was fine, and the standard of play produced" in - each section of the -tournament was excel- . lent. There" was a good attendance of spectators. Sefton won the open section in the basketball : through beating Amberley . in the final by 2 points- to 1, The under 4ft 6in class was won by • V/odderid,' Which beat Kaiapoi. by 3 points to 2. Rangiora beat Sefton by • 1 10 points to 1' in the class under sft. In the final of the B grade in the 1 basketball Rangiora Convent School i beat West Eyreton by 7 points to 2. The.final results of the Rugby foot- - I ball matches were:— A Grade—Under Bst.7lb: Sefton beat Rangiora, 5-3. Under 7st 71b: Rangiora beat Belfast; 9-0. Under 6st 71b: Sefton -beat Rangiora, 3-0. Under sst 71b: Kaiapoi beat Belfast, 4-3. Under 4st 71b: Rangiora beat Kaiapoi, 12-3. B Grade—Leithfield, Southbrook, and Glenmark had four wins.each.
