Mrs R. Halse, who has been spending some months with her. sister, Mrs W. J. Day, Riccarton, will leave on Tuesday for Wellington, where she will spend 10 days before going to Marton, where she will make her home.
Mrs D. D. Wall, who has been spending a few days with her parents, Mr and Mrs W. Bryant, "Adcroft," Tinwald; has returned to her home at Mount Somers. Sir William and Lady Hunt (Wellington) arrived in Christchurch yesterday on their way to Invercargill to visit Mr and Mrs W. E. Hunt, Te Tipua. Miss Faith Herdman (Papanui), who has been visiting her sister, Mrs H. G. Sutton, Invercargill, returned home yesterday. At a meeting of the Sunlight League Health Camp Committee, held'last night, it was decided to invite Mr F. W. Furby and Mr J. W. Beanland to become members of the management committee. Lady Fuller, who has been visiting Auckland, left by the Wanganella this week on her return journey to Sydney. She was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs J. B. Darby, of Heme Bay. Sister Edna M. White, of Auckland, who has been associated with the Methodist Mission Hospital in the Solomon Islands for some years, has now retired. She returned to New Zealand this week.
Greetings and good wishes from the delegates attending the provincial convention of the North and South Canterbury districts of the Women's Christian Temperance Union were sent to Mrs Clark, a foundation member of the LytteltonUnion. Mrs Clark celebrated her ninety-first birthday anniversary recently. At a meeting of the Sunlight League Health Camp Committee, held in the City Council Chambers last ight, votes of thanks to Mr W. S. Baverstock. who had designed "first day covers," and to the Press Company, which had given the stamp for the design, were carried amid applause. The covers will be sold towards the end of this month, just before the sale of health stamps begins, and the proceeds will be given to the Sunlight League Health Camp Committee. Mrs W F. Kent-Johnston said that the health stamo sales committee had been granted permission to sell the covers in the vestibule of the General Post Office, and on the suggestion of Mr K. O. Stenhens it was decided to.advise, the Philatelic Society of the issue of covers. A large parcel of the covers was disposed of at the meeting.
