WORK ON STORM

The work, of converting the Canterbury Steam Ship Company’s steamer Storm into a motor-ship is proceeding -satisfactorily at Sydney, and it is expected that the vessel will arrive back at Lyttelton about the end of next month. The engineers of the Storm are working by the vessel, but the remainder of the crew returned to Lyttelton soon after the Arrival of the Storm at Sydney.

Quarry Reopened The municipal quarry at Lyttelton, which has not been used for the last two or three years, was recently reopened, and a fair quantity of metal was crushed for road works in Lyttelton. The quarry is situated close under Mount Pleasant, and a gravityoperated tramway connects it with the loading bins at the top of Canterbury street.
