A CIGARETTE BOX
Here is a cigarette box with corner pieces out from hardwood 12in x 4in X Jin. On the edge a -fin groove Jin deep is ploughed. The board is then laid
flat and clamped to the bench, allowing about Sin to overhang the bench. In it a similar Jin groove is ploughed and the Jin wide strip is cut off, and is enough for the four corners. All four sides of the box should be cut out of one strip of Jin ply. Crosscut the ply into the desired lengths.
The sides and ends are glued to the grooves of the corner pieces and are made square and left to dry. The bottom of the box is 3in thick and is set into the corners (see
diagram 33) and glued and pinned on. The lid may be shaped slightly and cut out'of Jin thick wood. It is hinged to the mitred border (see C) which is glued and pinned to the carcase. The feet are rfin square, iin thick, glued and pinned. The box may be painted or stained and polished.
