ST. ALBANS POST OFFICE

CHANGE OF NAME SUGGESTED

Whether the name of the new post office at St. Albans should be changed to Elmwood will be considered by the Christchurch City Council at its next meeting. Reference to a proposal that the name should be changed is contained in a letter that has keen received by the Mayor (Mr R. M. Macfarlane) from the Chief Postmaster (Mr F. W. Furby), Mr Furby remarked that he was not aware of any strong public opinion in favour of such Si change Commenting on the letter, Mr Macfarlane said he would bring the matter before the next meeting of the council, but in the meantime he suggested that residents of the district might like to express their opinion. They could take up a petition or communicate their views to the Town Clerk (Mr J. S. Neville).
