PENINSULA SHOW
GRANTS MADE TO PRIZE FUND A meeting of the committee of the Peninsula Horse Show and Pastoral Association was held on Saturday evening. The sum of £1 Is was received from the Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, patron, and Mr C. D. Kay gave the championship ribbon for the ponies, and reported Messrs J. E. V. Chapman and J. V. Chapman would again give the champion ribbon for hacks.
Mr C. W. Leete forwarded his resignation, and in view of his long service to the association he was made a life member.
Alterations to tule 14 to read “to carry 12 stone or more” and to rule 16 that “in stock classes where there are less than three entries only 75 per cent, and 25 per cent, of the first prize money should be paid, and if six or more entries, a third prize be paid,” were approved. The entry fees lor stock classes were fixed at 5s for members and 10s for non-members, and a reduction was made in the junior section. Minor alterations were made to the schedule. A new class was added in the cattle section for yearlings reared and -registered under the calf club rules.
Mr C. B. Idle was added to the committee. Marshals and stewards were appointed for the show. MEETING OF HAWARDEN ASSOCIATION The annual general meeting of the Hawarden Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held on Saturday. The president, Mr H. W. Shields, presided. The president referred to the deaths of Messrs H. M. Anderson. G. Arres, J. Bentley, G. L. • Rutherford, and J. A. Forrester, and he extended the sympathy of the association to the relatives. The balance-sheet showed a net profit of £25 17s 9d for the year. The president, in reviewing the work of the year, expressed his appreciation of the manner in which members had assisted to make the 1938 show a record show. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patrons, the Rt. Hon. G. W, Forbes, Messrs W. W. Mcßae, T. B. Gibb, and T. Hall; president, Mr H. Sidey; senior vice-president, Mr R. I. Black: junior vice-president, Mr G. Blakely; secretary, Mr F. J. Steel; assistant secretary, Mr H. Newman; treasurer. Mr R. E. Foster; general committee, Messrs J- R- Little, J. W. Earl, D. Sidey, E. C. Anderson, J. W. Croft, F. D. Dalzell. A. Cowie, H, E. Fincham. M. H. Stokes, W. L. Wright, J. Spence. J. L. White. O. T. Evans. J. W. Warwick. J. Quigley, C. McKeegan, H. M. Carr, R. B. Kellock, H. A. Reese, S. L. Boon. E. Pawsey, J. Pawsey, J. Forrester, W. R- E. Booker, G. Evans, J. Hall, C. H. Bethell, G. Blakely, A. Webb, J. W. Wright, W. J. J. Earl. L. Smellie, J. D. The date of the show was fixed for February 18. It was decided to enlarge the association’s building to enable the supper room in the hall to be used for luncheon on show day.
