SUCCESSFUL CHARITY CONCERT

ADVERTISING CLUB RECEIVES GOQD RESPONSE A large audience entered into the spirit of the Canterbury Advertising Club’s concert in aid of the Young Men’s Christian Association boys’ Wainui hut fund, held in the Radiant Hall last night. All doubt as to whether it was possible for one club to provide a full-length concert was dispelled, and the proceeds of the concert were well up to the expectations of club members. A large number of articles was auctioned, ranging from a double bed to packets of razor blades. The Advertising Club’s orchestra, of 14 instruments and conducted by Mr M. F. O’Brien, provided a number of items.

The programme was as follows: “Yieni Vieni,” “Night and Day,” “I

Double Dare' You,” played by .the Canterbury Advertising Clubs orchestra; tap dance, Mr A. Keane: ‘Rosalie,” “Sympathy,” “The Donkey Serenade,” by the club’s orchestra; humorous monologue, Mr H. Instone; skaters’ ballet, Miss Peggy Holmes and pupils; “The Charladies’ Ball,” Hay s Drama League; bathing beauty contest: community singing, led by Messrs E. Hollander and H. C. Smith; conjuring, Mr D. J. Hewitt.
