WAITAKI HIGH SCHOOL OLD BOYS
ANNUAL MEETING HELD AT OAMARU
[THE PRESS Special Service.]
OAMARU, September 12,
Delegates from the Canterbury, South Canterbury, and North Otago branches of the Waitaki High School Old Boys’ Association attended the association’s annual meeting in Oamaru this evening. Mr R. H. Hill, of Christchurch, president of the parent body, presided over a small attendance.
The association decided to join the Secondary School Old Boys' Association, the president being appointed its representative on the council. Mr Hill said that the question of forming a secondary school old boys’ association had been considered about 12 months ago, at a conference of representatives of secondary schools In Christchurch, and as nothing concrete was known about the Govern-
meat’s Education Bill it was decided to hold the matter in abeyance. The Minister for Education (the Hon. P. Fraser) had been asked what steps he proposed to take in the bill. A conference at Wellington was attended by 20 schools and evidence was given before a Parliamentary Select Committee.
The meeting further decided to approve a recommendation to the incoming executive committee to hold the annual meeting at Oamaru on the date of either the match with the Christchurch or Timaru Boys’ ' High Schools.
The following office-bearers were elected:—Patron. Mr F. Milner; president, Mr R. H. Hill (re-elected); vicepresidents. Mr W. H. Gledhill (Wellington). Mr R. H. Sellar (Auckland). Mr H. B. McDowell (Oamaru); honorary auditor, Mr C. G. Meikle; hall of memories committee. Messrs F. Milner. A. W. Moss, A. J, Grave, R. H. Hill, C. J. L. Mollison. F. Jones, J. L. Roberts, H. B. McDowell, A.
