CAR ON FOOTPATH WOMAN AND CHILD INJURED (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND. September 11. A married woman,' Mrs Edna Alice O’Connor, aged 27. and her infant daughter of Newton, were injured when they were struck by a motorcar which suddenly mounted the footpath in Karangahane road on Saturday afternoon. Suffering from concussion and back injuries. Mrs O Connor was taken to the Auckland Hospital. Her condition is not serious Her daughter, who was also taken to tn„ hcsnital, was sent home after treatm After mounting the kerb, the car continued for some distance before coming to rest a few feet from a shop window. The driver was afterwards arrested.
METAL BOTTLE TOP SWALLOWED
" OPERATION ON YOUNG MAN
AUCKLAND. September 11. After accidentally swallowing the metal crown top off a bottle of sodawater early on Friday afternoon, a young man living at Whakatane hurried to Rotorua to join the express to come to the Auckland Hospital for an operation. The patient was Richard Wadmore, a single man, aged 21, a son of Dr. J. C. Wadmore, of Whakatane. The operation proved successful, and Wadmore’s condition is not serious.
FOOTBALLER INJURED AT GERALDINE
[THE PRESS Special Service.] GERALDINE, September 10. Two cartilages of the ribs were fractured by E. Poff, a member of the Athletic (Christchurch) junior team when playing in the Geraldine Rugby seven-a-side tournament to-day. Potr scored the winning try of the match between Athletic and Temuka when the injury occurred.
