The Minister for Labour (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong) arrived by the steamer express on Saturday morning, and after hearing deputations in the morning and doing other official business returned in the evening to Wellington.

The Minister for Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) arrived from the north on Saturday morning, on the first part of a short official journey'which will take him to Oamaru. This morning the Minister will hear deputations and in the evening will address a meeting at Methven. He will go to Oamaru and address a meeting there on Tuesday evening. He will return to Christchurch on Wednesday, leaving that evening for Wellington.

Messrs D. M, Grover, C. N. Johnson, C. V. Davies, S. E. Armitage, H.G. Kilpatrick, R.W. Saunders, L. Orbell, R. Bell, F. B. Hale, J. Ballin, E. A. Macfarlane, E. Dennis, and J. H. Flower were among the passengers on the steamer express from the north on Saturday morning. , Messrs W. K. Jones, A. van Bochoue, F. A. L. Cookson, W. Naismith, C. T. Lee, and N. J. Webster were passengers from the north by the steamer express yesterday morning.

The Hon. W. Hayward, the Hon. J. K. Archer, and the Hon. J. A. McCullough, members of the Legislative Council, arrived by the steamer express from the north on Saturday morning. Archdeacon A. K. Warren returned to Christchurch from- the north by the steamer express on Saturday morning.

Colonel P. H. Bell, Officer Commanding the Southern Command, was a passenger from the north by the steamer express cn Saturday morning

Mr John Dowgray, a director of the Bank of New Zealand, arrived from the ncirth by the steamer express on Saturday morning. Messrs A. H. Nordmeyer, D. McDougall, H. S. S. Kyle, and C, Morgan Williams, members of Parliament, were passengers on the steamer express from the north on Saturday morning. Mr H. G. Livingstone returned to Christchurch by the steamer express from the north on Saturday morning.
