DECREASE IN FARES SUCCESSFUL
BUSINESS OF RAILWAY COMPANY (unrnsii nma.\N wihf.i.ess.) RUGBY, March 9. The chairman of the London and North-Eastern Railway Company (Mr William Whitelaw), speaking at the annual general meeting, referred to the success of the experimental reduction in passenger fares, which had stopped the continuous decrease in passenger traffic. In 1934 the company carried more than 6,000,000 more passengers than in 1933 and 1,000,000 more than in 1932. Passenger traffic receipts rose by £360,000 last year.
