REPERTORY SOCIETY

ANN lAL MEETING HELD The Canterbury Repertory Society held its annual meeting last evening, the president, Dr. J. Hi.ght, presiding. Moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman said the year had been satisfactory. The membership had decreased by 32, the total being 598. A library had been started, and the committee was considering getting a more suitable hall in which to produce the society' plays The officers were re-elected as follows: —Patron, Sir R..Heaton Rhodes; president, Dr. J. Ilighf; vice-president, Mr R. Twyneham; committee, Mrs H. G. Cotterill, Miss N. Enright, Messrs Win. C. Collins, W. B. Harris, T. W. C. Tothill, D. I. Macdonald, L. J. Taylor, PI. McD. Vincent, J. H. Young; honorary producer, Professor J. Shelley; assistant producer and instructor, Mr Bernard V. Beeby; wardrobe mistress, Mrs Robinson E. Hall; stage manager, Mr H. Shaw; honorary solicitor, Mr W. J. Hunter; honorary auditor, Mr J. M. Preston; secretary, Ma.ior R. F. W. Ashwortb, The officers were thanked. A suggestion that the society should exchange teams to produce plays with the Dunedin society was made to the committee by Mr W. J. Hunter. Mr Hunter also suggested that more social functions might be held for members.
