THE MORTGAGE CORPORATION BILL
TO THE EDITO* Of THE I'EBSS. Sir,—Our friend, "One of the Despoiled," in "The Press" this morning, evidently does not know any better; but you do, and before you aided and abetted him in taking my name in vain on a subject where he was incorrect in every word, you might have recollected" your Shakespeare and also have read your excellent issue of Saturday last. I wonder if "One of the Despoiled" got any comfort out of his gentle sport? And did you; when you were very young pull the wings off a bee while someone else held it?— Yours, etc., WM. MACHIN. March 11, 1935. [Between Shakespeare and the bees we do not quite follow Mr Machin; but if. as we believe, he asks us to dissociate ourselves from the confused views of our correspondent, "One of the Despoiled," who connects th<3, principle of the National Mortgage Corporation with "repudiation" and mistakenly sees in Mr Machin's qualified support of the one any sort of support of the other, we are very ready to comply. Mr Machin's explanation of the bill now before the House, at Methvcn, could be taken, by nobody who followed the speaker's argument or is acquainted with the bill, as setting up the principle that "they may take who have the power."— Ed..
