DAMAGES AWARDED
WRONGFUL DISMISSAL OF ENGINEER (TRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM. > WELLINGTON, March 11. Damages amounting to £l6lO and costs were awarded in the Supreme Court to-day to James Marshall, formerly superintendent engineer to Cable and Company, from whom he claimed £3OOO for alleged wrongful dismissal, and also asked judgment for a share of the net profits which he contended, was due to him. Chief Justice (the Rt. Hon. Sir Michael Myers) said the company had claimed that, by reason of incompetence and negligence on the plaintiff's part, the dismissal was justified, but had failed to prove it. He accepted Marshall's testimony against that of the defence whenever there was conflict, and thought 'he company had only itself to blame for all the trouble. It therefore must pay damages.
