HEAVY RAIN FALLS AT WHANGAREI
■ ■ -> - DANGER OF FLOODING TRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.I AUCKLAND, March 11. Heavy rain set in at Whangarei on Sunday night and fell steadily throughout the night. Steady rain ' again set in during the afternoon, increasing in intensity until by the evening driving rain was falling. At Clotworthy's Flat, on the road between Whangarei and Onerahi, the water was over the road at 9 p.m., and the car that came through then reported that the road would shortly be impassable. At Whakapara the river was bank-high to-night, and although there had been no flooding, indications were that if rain continued paddocks and roads would be under water. Farmers in districts liable to flooding have in many cases taken the precaution of removing stock to higher levels. Reports from several other districts indicate that serious flooding will occur soon unless rain ceases.
