THE WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was dull and overcast, but no rain fell. There was a moderate northeast breeze, which freshened in the j evening. Dunedin—The weather yesterday was! bright and sunny, with a fresh north--1 east breeze. The temperature at midday was 69 degrees, and the barometer was fairly steady about 30.05 inches. FORECAST i From readings taken at 4 p.m.) General Situation —Pressure is high to the east of New Zealand, while a depression is centred between Cape Maria van Diemen and Norfolk Island.
I Winds—Easterly to northerly. Strong north of Kawhia and Napier, and freshening in the southern part of the South Island; otherwise light to moderate Seas (New Zealand waters)— Rough north of Kawhia and the East Cape, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate to strong' east to north winds; moderate to rather rough seas. Weather—Further rain probable m the Auckland province, with some I heavy falls, extending gradually southwards especially to eastern districts ot the North Island; elsewhere fair to cloudy, later rain developing also m western and southern portions of the South Island.
