A disastrous fire yesterday destroyed the pattern shop at Thompson's large foundry at Castlemaine. Two hundred firemen had a difficult task saving the other portions of the foundry. While the fire was at its height three prisoners in the local reformatory scaled the high walls, slid down a drain pipe and escaped.
