ceraldink cli n The decision to establish a golf t course in a different area was reached i by the Geraldine Golf Club during the last season. As it had been an abnormally wet one the committee has found it necessary to close the links on se\ cTdl occasions. An extraordinary general meeting was called, and a large majority of the members voted in favour of the club moving to another site. The annual report of the club states that another course has now been laid out on Mrs A. E. Temple's property. The designing of the course was left to Mr G. B. Forrest, of Timaru. "It was found impossible to carry out the work without additional finance, and £l5O was borrowed on very generous terms. To date approximately £l7O has been expended cn (he new course. This amount would, without any doubt, have been exceeded bv a further £SO had it not been for the energy displayed by the members of the committee, who were ably assisted bv a few club members in doing the bulk of thfc work themselves. Great assistance was given by Mr M. Campbell, a former member of the club, who supervised the laying down i of the greens." continues the report. A modern three-roomed pavilion with large verandah and complete in every detail has been erected. The course has been completed in time for the opening of the new season at the end of this month. The lease of the old links has a further two years to run, and it was the committee's intention to sub-let the links for grazing purposes, but a request has been received for the club to surrender the lease as from the end of the present month so that another golf club may be formed. The committee have gone fully into the matter. The following were the results of the club competitions:—Men's senior championship: D. J. Lack, runner-up, D. Macdonald. Ladies' senior championship: Miss P. D. Sharpe: runnerup. Miss M. Rattray. Men's junior championship: It. Patrick; runner-up, A. Quantock. Ladies' junior championship: Mrs E. P. Bennett: runnerup.
