THE WEATHER The weather on Saturday was dull early in the morning, but it later cleared and the day was clear and hot. Yesterday the weather was equally good, with a slight easterly breeze, which freshed towards evening. Rainfall to date .. .. l.S2in s.3Sin In Other Centres Auckland —Generally fine weather prevailed on Saturday morning, but the sky became cloudy in the afternoon, and light showers fell in the evening. The sky was overcast yesterday, and there was a fresh northeasterly wind. The barometer showed a steady fall yesterday. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 70 degrees. Wellington—The week-end in Wellington was brilliantly fine and warm, with a light southerly breeze. I Dunedin—ldeal summer weather was experienced on Saturday, the sun shining from a clear sky. There was practically no wind, and the maximum temperature was 73 degrees. Fine weather with bright sunshine continued yesterday. In the afternoon there was a slight easterly breeze. The barometer was unsteady, and the maximum temperature was 74 deg. FORECAST (From readings taken at 4 p.m.) General Situation—Barometers are still high over the greater part of New Zealand, but have been falling in the far north, a depression having been centred near Norfolk Island. A depression is also covering south-eastern Australia to-day. Winds—Strong easterly north of Kawhia anjj. the East Cape, elsewhere easterly backing to northerly, light to moderate, but later freshening. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rough north of the East Cape, elsewhere smooth to moderate, but rising shortly south of Cape Egmont. Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate easterly winds, backing to northerly and freshening in the southern portion, seas rough in the northern portion, but moderate in the southern portion. Weather—Dull and misty with rain probable in the Auckland province; elsewhere fair to cloudy, but later rain developing also in western and the far southern portions of the South Island; temperatures warm.
