The Paris correspondent of the "Daily Mail" says the deck protection of France's new 35,000-ton battleship will be the heaviest yet, namely, Bin. steel to guard against aerial torpedoes and high-angle fire by 16in guns. The armoured belt along her sides will be 16in thick at the centre, tapering at the bow and stern. The ship will carry eight 16in guns in four turrets and also considerable anti-aircraft armament. Her engines will give her a speed of at least 30 knots.
