PREMIER THEATRE

"MY SON(; FOR YOl " "My So: 'i For You." Jan Kiepura's second nr.-jess, which will begin at the !•';•£micr Theatre, New Brighton, to-night, is a refreshing romantic comedy rich with musical gems, and dominated by the pleasing personality and magnificent singing of the star. Assisting him again is the popular British comedian, Sonnie Hale, who, as usual, handles his lines so well ihat he is almost as important as ICiepura. Kiepura sings with that ringing quality which makes even his lesser efforts stand out, and acts with the small-boyish abandon and high spirits which are part of his personality. Sonnie Hale, at times, almost runs away with the picture by his performance as Keipura's indefatigable manager. In a broadcasting scene, in which he tells the tenor's life story, by proxy (and with the help of a handy encyjlopaßdia), he reaches great comedy heights. In the leading feminine role, Aileen Marson gives an excellent performance. The producers of this film have spared no effort to see that most of the singing comes into the picture naturally, and it has a story as well as being solely of vocal value. The picture opens with Jan Kiepura as Gatti coming aboard his yacht in the Mediterranean, singing the delightful melody from which the film derives its title. Later, Kiepura is heard singing excerpts from the opera, "Aida," and during a wedding in the church, he sings "Ave Maria." Box plans are at Hudson's, chemist, and at the theatre, telephone 37-447.
