FRIDAY tßefore Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.) INTOXICATED DRIVER Alexander Simpson pleaded guilty to a charge o£ being intoxicated in charge of a motor-car. He was ordered to come up for sentence if called on within two years, his license was cancelled, and he was prohibited from obtaining another for two years from June 1, 1935. Sub-Inspector D. A. Maclean said that early on Thursday evening the accused took a young woman for a drive to New Brighton. He called at a hotel and bought a half bottle of whisky, three-parts of vfhich the woman said he drank neat on the way back. The car eventually stopped and the young woman sent a message to the police. CHARGES OF THEFT Frederick Thomas Wilder, aged 20 years, pleaded guilty to charges of stealing a saw, two chisels, one screw driver, one gouge, one pair of pincers, one wood bit, two steel drills, one diamond glass cutter valued at 31s 6d, the property of James Malcolm Taylor, and one hammer, valued at 6s Gd, the property of Alfred John Wendelken. Arthur Clarence Lionel Wilder, aged 21 years, brother of the accused, appeared for sentence on the same charges. Both men were convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called on within six months. TRAFFIC OFFENCES Offenders against traffic by-laws were dealt with as follows: Parking not near left of road—Harold William Bougen, lined 10s, and ordered to pay costs. Failing to give way—Ethel Maud Brooksbank, fined 20s and ordered to pay costs. Cycling without light—Charles William Barland, James Grieve, and Alexandra Hardie Jamieson, lined 15s and ordered to pay costs; James Thow, fined 5s and ordered to pay costs. Negligently driving a motor-cycle— John Carter, fined 30s and ordered to pay costs. Insufficient lights—William Taylor Scoit Johnstone, fined 5s and ordered to pay costs. Driving at dangerous 'speed-.—An-thony George Lester, fined £4 and ordered to pay costs. His license was endorsed. Lester was convicted and discharged on a charge of failing to report an accident. CHILDREN'S COURT f Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.) PLACED UNDER SUPERVISION A youth, aged 18 years, charged with indecently assaulting a female aged tfii'ce years and two months, was placed under the supervision of the Child Welfare Officer, for 12 months.
