Corrospondnnci; is invited and questions ivill bf answered. 1 Fifteen members of the Linwood Rover Scout Ambulance Division, under Mr J. E. Stokes, met in their den, "Whare I*£ura," on Saturday evening. The members were taken in drill and later questioned on first-aid work. The usual parade of the Christchurch Ambulance•bivision was held on Wednesday evening, with Superintendent W. M. Palmer presiding over a good attendance. The resignation of Sergeant S. Rowbcrry, as storekeeper, was received with regret, and Corporal W. Samuel was appointed to the position. When the business of the evening was concluded, the Divisional Surgeon, Dr. Walton Bremncr, delivered a lecture on "Haemorrhage and Pressure Points." Member.; of the Sclwyn Nursing Division met in the brigade rooms on Tuesday evening. Mrs E. Angus, Lady Divisional Superintendent, presided. Dr. Caroline Stenhouse, divisional surgeon, gave an interesting lecture on the "Construction of the Lungs and the Respiratory System."

The division met on Monday evening, when Miss J. Pegler presided. | Public duty was arranged for members for the week. Four new members were proposed and accepted. Later, Mrs A. Frickcr, Lady Corps Superintendent, attended and took charge of the division, giving the members practice in first-aid and attention to accidents. This week is the twenty-ninth anniversary of the division. One of the very early members is still on the roll (Miss Carnic), and in looking up the old records, it is also very interesting to notice the names of some ladies who are stii 1 taking an active part in the public life of the city. The Lyttelton Railway Ambulance Division met as usual in the sub-centre rooms on Monday evening. Superintendent J. Lister was in charge. Dr. Dudley gave an interesting lecture on "Circulation and Pressure Points." The secretary was instructed to write to Dr. C. H. Upham, who is a patient in St. George's Hospital, and convey the division's best wishes for a speedy recovery. The New Brighton Nursing Division met in the high school on Tuesday evening. Mrs E. Robertson, lady superintendent, presided. There was a good attendance of members. It is hoped that there will be a good number to start the first-aid class next week, at which Mrs A. L. Bishop, lady district superintendent, has .kindly consented to lecture. Appointment Approved The chief commissioner has approved of the following appointment in the Canterbury district:—Selwyn Nursing Division: Mrs S. J. Saville to be lady divisional storekeeper. Cadet Proficiency Badges Cadet proficiency badges have been issued to the following cadets in the Canterbury district:—New Brighton Cadet Ambulance Division: Cadet Keith Mapstone, first badge for handicraft, camping and rambling, nature study, public service. St. Matthew's Cadet Ambulance Division: Cadet T. Bradley, first badge for knowledge of the order, physical exercises, public service, homecraft. Christchurch No. 3 Cadet Ambulance Division: Cadet J. Dodgson, first badge for fire-fighting, physical exercises, knowledge of the order, sea and boat training. Nursing Cadet Competition Some time ago a silver button was given to the Christchurch Cadet Nursing Division to be competed for monthly and to be awarded to the nursing cadet gaining the most points during the month in punctuality, general appearance, discipline, and efficiency in first-aid and home nursing. The results for February, wheh was the first month the button was competed for, were as follows:—Cadets Joyce Robertson (63 points) 1, Hazel Smith (57 points) 2, Gladys Kennedy (48£ points) 3, Jean Dickson (47 points) 4.
