NEW INSTRUCTOR FOR AERO CLUB
♦ FLIGHT LIEUTENANT S. A. GIBBONS APPOINTED Flight Lieutenant S. A. Gibbona, of Wanganui, has been appointed pilot instructor to the Canterbury Aero Club in succession to Mr R. A. Kirkup, who resigned recently to take up a position with East Coast Airways, Ltd. The appointment was made at a meeting of a sub-committee of the club yesterday" -ii Flight Lieutenant Gibbons will take up his duties in about a week. Recognised as one of the best pilots in New Zealand, he has flown for about 1000 hours. He has served in the Royal Air Force ana for the last three years has e en captain of the Wanganui A.ero dueHe is also part time assistant instructor to the Western Federated (N. 1.) Flying Club, and holis an instructor's license and a pilot s license. . There were about 12 applicatio for the position, and they cam from all parts of the . c ° u "v£ Several were from men with nig qualifications and wide experience.
