Messenger Bees

A German beekt per has t'ound what he believes to be a new use for bees. They are no longer to bt mere honey-gatherers and waxbuilders, but messengers as well. He has written messages on scraps of paper and fastened them to the backs of bees. The bees have quickly brought them back to the hive, and never has a bee failed to deliver the message. The beekeeper, Herr Berhard Guehler, says bees are less likely than pigeons to fall into the wrong hands. This reminds us that large golden bees were used as special messengers at the time of the civil war in America (1860-63). Thp messages were written on spools of very fine paper attached to the bees' legs. Answers to Jumbled Birds' Names. 1. Wren 4. Tomtit 2. Robin 5. Wax-eye 3. Magpie 6.
