NO ALTERNATIVE TO BARTER
GERMANY'S NEED OF RAW MATERIALS REIT RN OF COLONIES ADVOCATED (Received March 5, 10 p.m.) BERLIN. March 5. Dr. Schacht (President of the Reichsbank), addressing business men at the Leipzig spring lair, said it was becoming daily more ibvious that colonies were absolutely necessary for the industrial state as sources of raw materials. It was clear that if Germany had her colonies her transfer problem would be immensely easier. She had no alternative to obtaining raw materials by barter, and must buy where she could obtain them in exchange for German goods.
