The official title of Wellington's Karitane Hospital at Melrose was changed at a special meeting of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children in Wellington, from Truby King Karitane Hospital to Sir Truby and Lady King Karitane Hospital. The change in name followed a recommendation made to all Plunket societies in New Zealand, and had already been carried out in Christchurch. When it was suggested that the new name might be somewhat unwieldy the president, Miss E. Cameron, said the hospital had always been generally known as the Karitane Hospital, and always would be. It was thought desirable to have the name of Sir Truby King connected with the wonderful institution he had founded, and his connexion with the organisation would thus be preserved in the future.
