i Many forms of advertising can be illuminated in any colour or combination oil colours by a new method in which the cathode-ray is used. The tube is built in any size to house the advertising matter, which is coated with chemicals that become luminous as the cathode rays from the top of the tube strike the chemicals.' The inventor has arranged about 400 shades for use in the tubes. The electronic flow is two-tenths of a milliampere pnd current consumption is about 10 watts. Strips of crepe rubber laid under the tramlines in the streets of Durban, South Africa, are part of the campaign against street noises.
