«— FIRE BRIGADE CONTEST DEPARTURE OF VISITORS TO THE PBZSS.) BLENHEIM, March 4. # The town seemed deserted this morning now that nearly all the visitors for the fire brigade demonstration last week had returned home. It was the biggest influx of visitors that Blenheim has had for some time. . • The financial result of the week is not yet known, but it is understood that any profit made is to be used for the benefit of the town, and probably the work £>t extending Riverside FarK will be undertaken. At to-day's meeting of the Blenneim Rotary Club Mr H. Duckworth, president of the Come to Blenheim Association, and Mr A. W. Taylor, captain or the Blenheim Fire Brigade, were warmly complimented by the president, Mr W. T. Churchward, on tne success of last week's carnival. Personal Mr J. H. Fea will sail to-morrow from Wellington for Sydney on a business trip. , *..-,«» Mr and Mrs F. Smith, F. A. Brownjohn, A. Doao, A. Costello, P. Curtis, Mr and Mrs * O'Brien, and Mr and Mrs A. L. Mur doch. Calls for Fire Brigade During the week-end members ol the Blenheim Fire Brigade were! Kepj busy. Shortly after 11 o'clock, whus the farewell function to the vising firemen was being held at tne *» station, a telephone call was receive* stating that a house in Grove road w» on fire, but investigation revealed W' the call was a hoax. Shortly after o'clock on Sunday morning anoine telephone call was received to "\ effect that Mr Cook's house J " S street was ablaze, the brigade turnip out to find they were again the viC««, of a hoax. Then at 3.45 o'clock a cfl was received, but this time there « a fire in an old unoccupied buißus at the corner of Beaver road an Alfred street.
