GENERAL LEVY ON BEEF
MR ELLIOT INDICATES POSSIBILITY (Received March 3, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, March 1. Mr W. E. Elliot (Minister for Agriculture), addressing the Glamorganshire farmers, indicated the possibility of a levy on all imported beef, similar to the measure which had worked satisfactorily in connexion with wheat. Negotiations were proceeding regarding its application to beef.
