COUNTY AFFAIRS
TO TUB EDITOR OK I'HE TRESS. Sir,—Thanks arc due to Mr C. Flavell, chairman of the Heathcotc County Council, for having been successful in getting a promise from the railway authorities to provide better shelter for passengers waiting for trains on the south platform. The unpleasantness of this platform has been evident for very many years, and it is to be hoped that on this occasion it gets beyond the promise stage. There arc other matters in Heathcote that Mr Flavell could give more of a lead in at the present time. The increasing necessity of an adequate water supply is of considerable importance. Mr "Flavell's willingness to answer questions based on a report 10 years old is not sufficient. Another matter that requires a lead in and very immediate and earnest attention is . an offensive drain that goes through Heathcote. A considerable amount of annoyance was caused to residents by flics during the hot weather. I understand that the Heathcote County Council is the local health authority to take steps in connexion with this matter. If it is, this matter requires immediate and prompt attention.—Yours, etc..
OLD RESIDENT. Hcathcotc. March 2, 1935.
